When in the Course of human Events… reads the famous preamble to the Declaration of Independence.
Independence Number was published in full color as the cover of Collier’s Weekly News Magazine for its issue of July 1, 1905. Maxfield Parrish gave it his own title “King George III, Dear Sir:”
The text of the 1776 Declaration continues:
….That to secure these Rights, Governments are instituted among Men, deriving their Just Powers from the Consent of the Governed, that whenever any Form of Government becomes destructive of their Ends, it is the Right of the People to alter or to abolish it, and to institute new Government…
Going into an important election this November we should be reminded that our government is a rule of the people, by the people, and for the people by its elected and appointed officials and fortunately we are no longer under the rule of a King, but a duly elected President.
Two days from the posting of this web site, We The People of the United States of America will finish determining the course of our events for the next four years. May we choose wisely.
